The Council on Islamic Education (CIE), founded in 1990, is a national, non-profit research institute. CIE is formally comprised of Muslim academic scholars along with a full-time professional staff with expertise on matters related to a wide range of components of American society and the institutional system. CIE draws upon civic, ethical, and educational principles in Islam and applies them in a manner consonant with U.S. constitutional principles and foundational ideas.
