June 6-7 Conference, “The Catholic Church in China from 1900 to the Present,” Hong Kong

The LEWI International Conference on “The Catholic Church in China from 1900 to the Present”, will be held June 6-7, 2013 in Hong Kong.

CONFERENCE THEMES:

– Modern and contemporary events and personalities;
– Cross-cultural, intercultural, and transcultural case studies;
– The role of women in the Chinese Catholic Church;
– Bible translations;
– Sino-Vatican relations;
– Foreign Catholic missionary groups in Chinese society;
– Regional, provincial, and local case studies;
– Comparisons between Chinese church communities on the mainland, in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan;
– Dialogue between the Catholic Church and other Protestant Churches;
– Dialogue between Catholicism and other religions in Chinese society;
– The impact of Vatican II on the Chinese Catholic Church;
– The development of theology;
– The contemporary establishment of the Catholic Church on the mainland; and
– The prospects of the Chinese Catholic Church
