“From Ibrahim ibn Yakub to 6 Anielewicza Street,” an International Conference will be held 11-14 May, 2015, to mark the opening of the Core Exhibition of POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
The conference will introduce the POLIN Museum’s Core Exhibition to the scholarly public and review the present state of knowledge on the history of Jews in the Polish lands.
Established experts from around the world will now have the opportunity to discuss POLIN Museum’s Core Exhibition content. The historical narrative of the exhibition will thus be a point of departure for new questions and directions of research on the rich legacy of Polish Jews.
The conference will evaluate the achievements of the last thirty years in the study of Polish-Jewish history and culture and at the same time highlight the gaps in historiography. Participants will also discuss the role which the Museum and the Jewish Historical Institute can play in furthering research and how to make this research accessible to a broad public both in Poland and internationally.
