Religious education is a rich and unique subject which reaches across the continuum of education. However, the uniqueness of this subject is often much misunderstood and, more often than not, misrepresented in wider society.
Does Religious Education Matter? will seek to explore and overcome such misrepresentations and thus present a truer reflection of the complexities of the subject. Taking an inter-disciplinary approach, this collection will attempt to contribute to the development of a more informed public perception of religious education whilst, at the same time, providing a space for discussion and reflection.
It is envisaged that chapters will be submitted from contributors working in (but not limited to) the following areas:
• Religious education
• Catechetics
• Education (including comparative education and adult education)
• Philosophy
• Ethics
• Theology and/or Religious Studies
• Psychology
• History
• Irish Studies
• International Studies
• Law
• Politics
Interested parties should prepare an abstract of 300-500 words. Please include with your abstract: 1) a proposed chapter title; 2) your name, contact details and institutional affiliation; 3) a brief biography (c. 250-350 words) including your qualifications, area(s) of interest and relevant recent publications.
