The Transatlantic Roundtable on Religion and Race is pleased to invite papers for its 2015 conference, Repairing Community: Faith Based Responses to Racial Disparity and Conflict, UK to be held July 1-3, 2015, in London, England.
This Roundtable aims to focus on the role of faith based organizations, leaders, community activists and others in confronting key issues impacting groups where racial disparities and/ or racial/religious conflict are a key feature of community life. The conference will be preceded June 28-29 by a program on Transatlantic Black Past in Liverpool.
Historical and contemporary examples of faith based engagement and activism in the context of dealing with disparities and conflict across Africa and the African Diaspora are welcome. The organizers invite proposals outlining “best-practices” and practical dimensions as well as conceptual and applied scholarly papers that explore these or related themes.
Please submit 150-250 word abstracts by Jan. 30, 2015 to Dr. William Ackah (w.ackahATbbk.ac.uk) at Univ. of London or Dr. R. Drew Smith (rsmithATpts.edu) at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.
